This program automatically reorganizes your load order to make it as stable as possible. A great tool to pair with your mod manager is the Load Order Optimization Tool, or LOOT. This will allow New Vegas to read and accept any texture mods you install (we'll get to those later). Then go to Settings > Workarounds > BSA Redirection and toggle it. After installing it, log in, and select New Vegas as the game you're modding.
I highly recommend Vortex since it has a great UI and is very easy to use. These tools automatically handle most mods' installation, so you don't have to dig around in-game files - simply drag-and-drop compressed mod files, and the mod manager will do the rest. There are many minor fixes and tweaks that can be altered with the following mods.The first thing you need is a Nexus Mods account, the website where most mods are posted. While New Vegas is certainly more stable than it's predecessor, it is not without it's faults. There are some files that cannot be installed via these manager, such as ENB lighting setups or various plugins for New Vegas, but so long as you follow all the installation instructions to the letter you shouldn't have any problems. It does take some knowledge about modding to use the FOMOD, but there are some excellent tutorials available for both FOMM and NMM to help get you started. However, the Nexus Mod Manager can get confused easy about mods that clash with eachother and has some issues wih load order which may negatively affect your game.Īlternatively, the Fallout Mod Manager (or FOMM) provides a suite of utilities to help you download and implement New Vegas mods. You just go to the nexus and download the mod clicking the green button, then install the mod directly from the manager.
The Nexus Mod Manager is the easiet way to mod your game. Always be sure to verify that your mod sources are trustworthy and that you backup every file you replace, in case you need to remove it later. Installing mods often involves tampering with core game files.
